Profile

Jane has a Fine Art Degree from Lancaster University and has been working with precious metal clay (pmc)*1 since 2008.

Jane draws most of her inspiration from textures and forms in the natural world. She finds a wealth of beauty in the simplest of objects, and extracts and re-presents this in a different and fresh way. In her pieces you can see nuances of the source material such as leaves, feathers and shells or man made items such as coins, keys and zips.

*1 Metal clay was developed in the early 1990's in Japan. It consists of very small particles of metal mixed with an organic binder and water. Metal clay can be shaped and worked just like any soft clay. Once it is dry the clay is fired, this process burns away the binder leaving you with pure sintered metal consisting of 99.9% pure metal.

Jane works predominantly with silver PMC. Bronze, copper and 22ct gold are also available in precious metal clay form, please contact Jane with any queries.
